Allan and I were not Scottsbluff High School sweethearts until the end of our senior year.
We first met in Miss Marcie’s third grade classroom at Longfellow Elementary School. We continued to be in occasional classrooms until our senior year, but had no special relationship. We did stand side-by-side, in the middle of the front row, in our confirmation picture when we joined church at age 12; but neither of us remembers that.
Our first date was a double date with Bill Wallace and Joyce Cox in the spring of 1959. We went golfing, which the guys loved and we girls didn’t. Joyce and I soon stopped trying and ended up carrying the boys clubs.
Then Allan asked me to the prom!
We married in 1963 after college graduation. In the next 7 years, we lived in 7 states from California to Maryland. We settled in Cincinnati, Ohio where Allan worked in I.T. management for Proctor and Gamble and I taught school. We have three children and six grandchildren.
As of now, we’ve been married 61 years and are happily retired. We have traveled across the United States and the world, sometimes taking a grandchild with us. We both have remained actively involved at our church and enjoy traveling to visit our family and friends.
Scottsbluff High School gave us the education we have needed to fulfill our childhood dreams. We often recall our classmates and teachers and enjoy many treasured memories.
