I met her, May of 1957 and she knew me 7 months before that. She had been “watching “ me and I didn’t even know it. Each morning she would come into the band room to hear a small band that 7 of us had started. Get this…… it was a DIXIELAND JAZZ BAND …. And, one more time, get this….I was the drummer (trap set and all).
Well, anyway, a couple of girls in my class that were like sisters to me said “Dougie, there is a girl who really thinks you’re cute and you should go talk to her. That was in May of 1957. I was a Junior. Louise was a Freshman. I graduated in May of 1958. Louise’s father worked for Consumer’s Public Power( now Nebraska Public Power. In June of 1958 he was transferred to Columbus Nebraska to help open a new division. Louise graduated from Columbus, May of 1960. (A couple of years after that she was Miss Columbus and a runner up for Miss Nebraska.)
